Sound familiar
You have heard it all before
"Just rest it for six weeks."
You rested. It felt fine. Then it came back the moment you put a bar on your back again.
"Maybe lifting is not for you."
Said by someone who has never loaded a bar in their life and does not know what it means to you.
"It only hurts on heavy singles."
So you have quietly worked around it for months, capped your top sets and called it management.

Rehab that runs alongside your training
Not instead of it. Rest takes the symptom away, but it does not build the capacity that stopped you hurting in the first place, which is why the pain tends to come straight back the moment you load again.
Lifting is a skill and a sport. Working out why your elbow hurts when you bench means understanding grip width, bar path, elbow position, where you are in a block and what your training looked like eight weeks ago. That takes a physiotherapist who has actually done it.
- Monthly physiotherapy appointments, in person or online
- A full assessment of your squat, bench and deadlift, not just the sore joint
- A personalised rehab programme written after your first appointment
- Coach collaboration, so your coach and your physio check in monthly
- Direct messaging support Monday to Friday when something flares up
- The full mobility and Pilates library included
How it works
Three steps, then we keep going
A proper assessment
In person at The Dedicated Gym in Arundel, or online. Online does not mean a worse assessment. Take the call from inside your own gym, with your own bar and your own kit, and Emilia watches you deadlift live and coaches you through it in real time.
You get a full review of the movements your sport actually asks of you, on the equipment you actually train on, which is often more useful than a clinic room three hours after you lifted.
A programme built around you
You get a personalised rehab plan that fits your training week, your equipment and the goals you are actually chasing. Plus access to the mobility and Pilates library.
Ongoing, not one and done
Monthly appointments, messaging Monday to Friday, and regular reviews so the plan moves as you do. This is where pain free turns into durable.
Your coach and your physio, on the same page
Most rehab fails because it happens in a separate room to the training. Your physio says back off, your coach has a meet block written, and you are left in the middle guessing which one to listen to.
That does not happen here. After your appointment Emilia goes straight to your coach with what she found, what needs loading, what needs backing off and for how long. The two of them check in every month, so your rehab work and your programme are written to fit each other rather than fight each other.
You are not the messenger. You do not have to translate physio language into training language, or defend your programme to someone who has never seen it. You just train.
20 minutes. Emilia tells you honestly whether she can help.
Your physiotherapist
Emilia Martin
Registered physiotherapist, competing powerlifter, and head physio at Dedicated by Design. She got into powerlifting before she chose physiotherapy, and has run alongside each other ever since.
Being a lifter does not make anyone a good physio on its own, but it does mean she understands the frustration of missing training, the obsession with getting stronger, and exactly why getting you back under the bar matters.

Questions
Before you book
Will I have to stop training?
Almost never. The whole point of Pain to Performance is that rehab runs alongside your training. Sometimes a lift gets modified for a few weeks, the load comes down, or the range changes. Stopping altogether is a last resort, not a starting point.
What if my coach does not want to work with a physio?
Most do, once they see what they are getting. Emilia comes to them with findings and a clear plan, not a list of things you are banned from doing. Coaches tend to like having a physio who understands a training block. If yours would rather not, Emilia will work around your programme instead and you still get everything else.
Can I do this online?
Yes, and it is not the lesser option. Appointments run in person at The Dedicated Gym in Arundel, or online, and plenty of clients are fully remote. For an online assessment you take the call from inside your own gym so Emilia can watch you squat, bench and deadlift live, on your own equipment, and coach you through it as you go.
How long until I feel better?
Nobody honest can give you a date. What can be said is that most people notice something changing within the first few weeks, because the first job is finding what makes the pain better or worse and giving you control over it.
I am not injured, I just have niggles. Is that enough?
That is arguably the best time to start. Working around a niggle for six months is how it becomes the thing that costs you a training block.
What happens on the enquiry call?
Twenty minutes, free, no obligation. You explain what is going on, Emilia tells you honestly whether she can help. If it is not the right thing for you, she will say so.
Stop working around it
You have already spent long enough managing this. Twenty minutes on a call costs you nothing and tells you exactly where you stand.
